About Us

Robert:
Many years ago, back when Gliders were first being imported, I came across a breeder(can't remember who) at the Montgomery County Fair in Gaithersburg MD. At first I was very curious and in awe at these tiny furry creatures, and then it hit me, do I, can I, should I get one or more of these beautiful creatures? Thankfully I did not and decided I would do more research first. I did not even have a computer yet and information about Gliders was very limited at the very least. Thankfully Glideritis never really got a chance to fully infect me.

Fast forward a few years..... I met Amy, and we decided to go to the same fair and low and behold it was the same breeder, in the same stall, with a medium sized cage full of Gliders. This time I had backup, a voice of reason, and her name is Dr. Amy(wife to be). She did not know much about these little marsupials but she did have sense enough to keep me from making an un-educated/impulse purchase. By this time I had a computer and an internet full of information. Still, there was limited, and contradicting imformation plastered all over the net. Once again Gliders got put on the backburner until I was fully ready to give these little ones the proper care.

Fast forward several more years..... While browsing thru all the booths at "The Pet Expo" in Chantilly VA I came across an old man selling Gliders. He was very nice and not too pushy. Without my wife there I was an easy target, not too mention my research about Gliders was limited. I fell for it, hook, line and sinker, and was the proud owner of one male Glider. He was very sick, under aged, dehydrated, and had intestinal parasites. My wife was not happy with me but we both fell in love with him and brought him back from the brink of death. That night I discovered "Glider Central" and several other sites and found soooooo much information that I was on info-overload. The first step was to get him healthy and to get him a buddy. By the next morning he had improved to the point that he was eating and drinking on his own. Since my choices at that time were very limited I decided to go back to the expo and get him a friend. This time I brought Dr. Amy with me. We picked out another male, he was in much better shape, and brought him home to meet his new buddy (I'm sure they already knew each other). And that is how we got our first two Gliders, Ren and Stimpy, and Glideritis.

Present...... We now have several Gliders and have been a big part of Glider rescue and re-homing in our area. I have been successful at infecting many of my friends (new and old) with Glideritis. I have found homes for Gliders in MD, PA, WV, NC, and all over VA. The next logical step was to set up our own Sugar Glider site and fill it with tons of information on General healthcare, nutrition, and proper handling of our beloved pets/family members.

A big thanks goes out to all the people in the Glider community for all the wealth of information and help that has been given to us. Without you and sites like Glider Central, Lauries Glider Gazette, and the Sugar Glider Neighborhood we would still be searching for the right info. I would also like to thank Stacy for getting me off my butt and pushing me to start this site.

Stacy:
My love of Sugar Gliders began when I first saw them at an expo in my area. While my impulse was to buy one of these cute little critters my smart sense kicked in. With any pet you should always do the research first. I had known Robert and his wife Amy or a while and I knew they had gliders. That night I tracked down a number for them and called for some details. Robert got very excited and proceeded to tell me all the wonderful joys about owning sugar gliders. He then spent some time talking about the challenges of owning gliders as well. It was a lot to process and he was nice enough to steer me in the direction of places for more information.

After all Robert had told me, I decided to hold off for a bit and do some further research. It took me about a year to decide I was ready for gliders in my life. Working with Robert we started the search for a pair of gliders for me. The first two that came available were actually two rescues. They were not in the best shape. I don’t think they had been handled at all.  The female Fizzgig was very crabby and skiddish and the boy Ludo was very nippy(drew blood every time). It took a lot of patience and work but it paid off. They are two of the sweetest gliders ever.

Having never had the chance to start with a young joey, when Robert started breeding I got his first born, Stitch. My latest addition is Moon Doggie a Platinum Mosaic Male.

I love these animals so much and I love sharing my passion and knowledge with others.

Many thanks to Robert and Amy for all their support and guidance on my path to becoming a sugar momma.
